I am going to attempt to pump these out every Monday, Always tying them up with personal stories and experiences . In other words I am going to share with you all the times I’ve screwed things up and the lessons that came from that
With life throwing so many different curve balls and responsibilities daily your way, it is hard to feel as if you have a full understanding of what is going on. At times it can really feel as if you are drowning and suffocating in a pool of issues that are never ending. And the reality is guys, that you are NEVER going to be caught up. So by facing that now and accepting the fact, it will make handling these issues and keeping up with responsibilities much easier.
I am going to share 5 key hacks that keep my head straight , keep me from punching a hole through the wall and keep me from snapping at the people around me. And in all make my life better.
1. I am selfish in the mornings ! Be selfish guys, this is your life not anyone else’s. You have to take care of yourself first before you can take care of anyone else!
My morning , I wake up at 5 am, I have my coffee while I journal and I finish it up with a meditation session before I hit the gym .
All this takes place from 5-8am. That is my time! I don’t like to text I don’t like to talk all I like to do is spend time with myself. I write my goals , intentions and what I am grateful for. Its also my time to think, this is the time where I solve all my internal issues and external issues as well. I find solution in my silent time.
2. Track shit out!
I have calendar for the month where I track my morning routine out, I need to see how consistent I am being , because if I feel like dogshit and I can not figure out why. I can look at my calendar and tell myself “Jesus, you’ve been slacking, You only worked out 4 times this week or you have been waking up at 6 instead of 5”
It is fucken easy to fall behind on your habits and your goals. We all have had to start something over multiple times because we fall into the trap of “Just one time, or it’s okay it’s not a big deal” but then once becomes twice and twice is now 3 times and next thing you know you’re back at square one. Keep inventory of your progress and your process
3. Be patient , not everyone is as intense as you!
How many times do we get upset or frustrated when a family member to co worker or people on the freeway , don’t understand something as quickly as you, work at a slower pace that you do or drive the speed limit . It is very easy to snap or to ask your self “ whats so hard to understand , or why is this taking you so long”
I always say that I have been blessed with the ability to catch on to things freakishly fast, And I expect people around me to do the same. But now you live a life of expectation which are bound to get let down. So I have to constantly remind myself “Jesus, not everyone is as intense as you or not everyone is running late like you”. The world isn’t going to mold to your needs. Stop stressing over shit you have no control over.
4. Ask yourself how you are showing up 1st!
How many times have you came across a rude person? A bunch right , and our first thought is “fuck that dude was an asshole” . And many times we let that person or situation ruin our day. But have you every ask yourself “Why was that dude an asshole? How did I show up to him”. Many times the way people react to us is the way we present ourself to them. Instead of sayin fuck that guy, ask yourself HOW DID I SHOW UP? Many times we have something bothering us and we come off rude without being conscious about it. Understand your energy
If someone is rude or comes at me a certain way before I react I always ask myself “how did I show up?” Many times I am not paying attention or I have something bothering me when I interact with that person and my energy was off. Your input determines your output.
5. Reflect
It is important to understand how your day went. Did you take care of what you said you were going to? Did something amazing happen? Did you have a dogshit day ? If you do not take inventory its hard to have a grasp of how your day went and what type or progress you’ve made .
Before bed everyday I go over my day , I always have a list of things that need to get done from work to my personal life. So I go over them and the progress I made . I also ask myself two questions and write down my thoughts.
What was amazing about today and why
Where can I improve? How and why?
These are just a few of the key metrics I have in place to keep my head straight , these might work for some and might not for others. And that is okay, We are all different and require different disciplines . I am constantly tweaking and working on new little hacks to improve my day and productivity.
