Most People Don’t Like Real Estate Agents…And I Don’t Blame Them

It’s true. According to a recent Gallup poll, real estate agents ranked among America’s least trusted professions. They ranked even lower than lawyers and bankers in terms of trustworthiness.

Why?

Well, there are a lot of scumbags in the real estate industry.

People driven purely by greed who are willing to do whatever it takes — ethics be damned — to make money.

I know this because I’ve worked with so many real estate agents.

I've been to a ton of real estate agent training sessions.

And you know what these sessions teach?

That the real estate agent — not the client — is the center of the universe.

These training sessions are all about how the agent “deserves” to get paid. That if they just hound people enough, they’ll become a “closer” and a “money magnet.”

The training is never about how to become a better negotiator for their clients to get them a better deal, or how to use the latest technology and techniques to market a client’s home, or how to stage a home in a way that differentiates it from all the other homes on the market. It’s never about learning how to communicate clearly and transparently the details of the home selling or buying process with the client. Or how different loan programs will affect a buyer.

It’s never about any of that.

It’s all about the agent.

With the entire real estate agent training industry teaching this garbage, it’s no wonder real estate agents act the way they do.

Think about the most recent financial crisis (which was the worst in my lifetime): what was at the center of it?

Greed, yes. But more specifically…real estate.

I’m not saying real estate agents were the only guilty party, but they certainly participated in the widespread unethical practices that led to the housing bubble and resulting crash.

So I don’t blame people for being distrusting and skeptical of real estate agents.

That’s why I wanted to create a better way for people to buy and sell their homes.

A real estate system that puts clients front and center.

A documented approach that’s built on clear communication, transparency, and intelligence.

Imagine for a second that you’re looking to buy or sell a home, and instead of working with a sleazy salesperson, you work with someone who takes the time to listen to your goals and dreams, explains in detail the process they will take to help you achieve them, carefully goes over all of the facts about each potential scenario, advises you on which would be the best decision to make for your unique situation, and works their ass off to get YOU the best deal possible.

Imagine that instead of a complicated, drawn-out process with periods of stress and anxiety, you enjoy a smooth, easy and even relaxing experience with the peace of mind knowing you’re being taken care of better than a VIP guest at the Ritz-Carlton.

Does that sound good?

Well, that’s the type of experience I strive to create for each one of my clients.

I don’t want to fit in the box traditionally assigned to “real estate agent”.

I view my work as more of an educator, advisor, and consultant who will help you see the whole picture so you can make the most informed decision.

Unlike those agents who are motivated by greed, I’m motivated by freedom.

I value freedom for myself and for my clients.

Freedom to laugh, freedom to have fun, freedom to enjoy life.

My approach certainly takes more effort than the traditional real estate process, but it’s also more effective.

But because it takes more effort, I am very selective about who I take on as a client.

I can’t help everyone. Not because I don’t want to, but because there are simply people who aren’t a good fit for my system.

Unlike agents who carpet bomb neighborhoods looking for anyone interested in buying or selling a home, I value quality over quantity.

Here are what a couple of my clients have said about their experience with me:
